Tier IV Interim and CHD
The CHD (Compact Heavy Duty) family of liquid-cooled engines are known for their durability and reliability. They are particularly suited for equipping vehicles that are operated under severe conditions. With its indirect injection (IDI) system, two valves per cylinder, camshaft in the crankcase, setup for a third and fourth power take-off (P.T.O.) and valve gear with gear cascade, this engine is the perfect solution for heavy industrial applications.
The LDW line consists of three models:
Thanks to minor technical modifications, all the engines in the CHD family fully meet EPA Tier IV interim standards. Aspirated models (LDW 1603 and LDW 2204) only required a change in the dynamics of combustion to limit particulate emissions (PM). In addition to this improvement, the turbo version (LDW 2204/T) was equipped with a simple system for recirculating exhaust gasses internally to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. As a result, all the engines in the CHD line meet EPA Tier IV interim and State IIIS standards until the next regulations are issued.

Lombardini Marine Cup 2009
The grand finale of the Lombardini Cup will be held at Sistiana on October 4, when the final leg of the celebrated circuit of regattas held by Lombardini Marine will take place.
Also participating will be the girls on the Stelle Olimpiche (Olympic Stars) team, the patronesses of the circuit. It’s the first team in Italy (and perhaps in the world) made up of female Olympic athletes only. Even though its members come from different athletic disciplines and environments, the group took shape spontaneously to share a passion for sports and to put themselves to the test by forming a single crew on a single boat. The Team now consists of some 30 athletes and includes famous sports figures such as Margherita Grambassi, Giulia Quintavalle, Maurizia Cacciatori and Manuela di Centa.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Lombardini Marine stand at the Genoa International Boat Show on Wednesday October 7, when an LMG 4000 power unit will be presented to the winner of the Lombardini Cup, as selected by a prestigious jury made up of Giulio Guazzini, Cino Ricci and Giovanni Soldini.
The Lombardini Cup has united some of the most interesting sailboat events in Italy and abroad under a single name. Over the circuit’s 11 legs, more than 800 boats and 6000 sailors have faced off in regattas-between-buoys requiring great technical skill (including the Italia Cup and the selection for the ORC Italian Championships), in offshore sailing runs along stunning archipelagos in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, and in events reserved for prestigious classes.
The main goal of the Lombardini Cup is to promote the most noble aspects of sport and passion for the sea and the environment, but without overdoing it, and by associating physical effort with the values of fairness, following the rules, and friendship.
Thus, the decision to have the Stelle Olimpiche as patronesses is highly appropriate, since this team of champions in their specialties reconciles competitive commitment with wholesome fun to promote and promulgate the culture of a healthy sport.

Abruzzo Emergency
As everybody know, Italy was hit by a terrible earthquake on 6th April. This earthquake tore down innumerable houses and public buildings, with a heavy death toll for the people of Abruzzo, a vast number of inhabitants were injured and no fewer than 17.000 people have been left homeless. A whole region in the south of Italy has been brought to their knees, while tremors continue to be felt.
At Lombardini, like many companies and organizations throughout Italy, we cannot remain helpless before a tragedy of these dimensions and want to do our part to help the people of Abruzzo to recover from this disaster. Although the company has set up its own subscription which will go into a common fund together the Industrial Association and Worker’s unions, we would also like to give a chance to our Distributors to join us in this endeavour to help the earthquake victims.
Save the Children
