Respecting for the environment

The Lombardini Group is a primary advocate of development that is compatible with human well-being and environmental protection.

The race to develop engines that are increasingly “cleaner”, which began in the 1980s, was initially interpreted by manufacturers as an onerous legislative requirement. However, they soon understood that environmental protection is one of their primary responsibilities, and the concept became a focal point for the strategies of the Group.

Generally speaking, “clean” products are preferred by consumers and offer a strong competitive edge on the market.  For this reason, besides complying with current regulations, many engines already meet the standards prescribed for upcoming steps in the push toward reducing pollutants.

For many years, Lombardini has been devoting both human and economic resources to improving the environmental performance of its engines by:
  • Reducing pollutants emissions
  • Reducing noise pollution

A team of 12 technicians work full-time on these issues. And over the past few years, more than 2 million Euros have been invested in equipment and laboratory systems to deal with them.

In fact, most Lombardini engines are certified to comply with both European and American anti-pollution regulations. As far as the American norms are concerned, we meet not only the general federal EPA requirements, but also the specific (CARB) standards mandated by California.
