Bold & Gracious Tour 2000 Km around Europe

Bold & Gracious Tour 2000 Km around Europe

July 2011. "Bold and Gracious". Who are they?
Three girls driving a ride-on mower across Europe.
And their adventure is travelling on the Web.

More than a trip, it's a challenge.
From July 1 to 30, three "bold and gracious" girls will be having a unique experience: they'll be travelling across Europe on board an Alpina ride-on mower powered by Kohler.

Their brand-new form of "ship's log" will be written in three different "languages": a blog, photographs, and videos by the three girls, who are ready to take on an adventure that looks to be both extreme and exciting. They'll be on the road 30 days, on a trip with 30 legs totaling 2000 Km, and travelling at 15 Km/h, to record unique glimpses of 5 great countries: England, France, Germany, Austria and Italy.

Margherita, Francesca and Giulia will take turns driving the ride-on mower for six hours a day, which will test their spirit of adventure, as applied to the finest machine of its kind in the Lawn and Garden sector.
The "pen" of Margherita, the photos of Francesca and the videos of Giulia will record everything in real time on the Web and on social networks. These three different, creative ways of storytelling have in common today's highly innovative mobile devices. iPads and iPhones in hand, the girls will update the "ship's log" of photo albums and video galleries every day on the www.bg-tour.eu website and on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube.

The Bold & Gracious Tour begins in Oxford on July 1 and concludes in Reggio Emilia on July 30. At the finish line of each leg, the girls will be greeted by mini welcoming events that celebrate the strength of the girls, the sturdiness of Alpina ride-on mowers, and the toughness of Kohler engines.
Tackling the Bold & Gracious Tour will require grit, determination and female sensitivity, combined with excellent products from Alpina and Kohler.

The Bold and Gracious tour is organized by Kohler and Alpina, and produced in cooperation with wwlab | architects of communication with the support of Daboliù, ConversAction and Studio Tre Traduzioni.

Kohler Brings New Line of Small Horizontal Engines

To Power Consumer OPE Applications

Kohler continues to take its performance engineering commitment to new levels as it introduces an entirely new line of small horizontal-shaft engines for the consumer OPE market worldwide. The new KOHLER Courage® horizontal-shaft small engines will be the first consumer engine to include several features found typically only in a professional-grade engine. The family model is already available.

"Kohler continues to raise the bar in the industry with the innovative design of these small engines," said Cam Litt, marketing manager for Kohler Engines. "The new Kohler Courage small engines offer reliable power and superior features at a competitive price, so the end user really achieves what they need when using their outdoor power equipment."

The new engines target a range of consumer applications including tillers, edgers, portable generators, pressure washers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and other outdoor power equipment. The larger fuel tank on the Courage engines allows continuous operation for longer periods of time, resulting in less downtime and greater productivity. Equipped with a larger muffler ensures reduced engine noise, which is particularly important for users in the European marketplace where stringent noise regulations apply.

Additional features of the Courage small engines include: a dual-element air cleaner; cast iron-lined single slant cylinder, and OHV for extended life and better emission control; a larger recoil starter and dual ball bearings that make the engines very easy to start; dual oil fill and oil drain locations for ease of engine service; and a low-oil protection system that automatically shuts down the engine in case of low oil to ensure engine protection at all times.

Kohler Command PRO (7-14Hp)

Kohler Command PRO® Small Engines Bring Higher Horsepower and New Technology to Industrial/Commercial Equipment

Kohler continues to advance its leadership position in the small commercial engine market with its new line of horizontal-shaft Command PRO® engines. The new line of engines brings a higher horsepower offering to the marketplace with three models – 7, 9.5 and 14 hp – and offers superior technological features, including ‘Quad-Clean' a 4-stage, heavy-duty cyclonic air filter that comes standard on these models at no extra cost. The Command PRO's patented Quad-Clean™ technology is a Kohler innovation and the industry's first four-stage air-cleaning system. The innovative design makes the Command PRO engines ideal for harsh weather and work conditions. Quad-Clean technology keeps the engine free from debris, ultimately minimizing maintenance and cleaning efforts. In addition, the air cleaner doubles as a warm air intake system for optimal operation in colder conditions. With one turn of the air cleaner on the Command PRO, the engine is able to recycle the heat from the muffler, all within 15 seconds and without requiring any tools or kits to buy.

"Our intent with these new engines is to offer higher horsepower in a compact engine and include certain features as standard on this line, providing significant competitive advantages to the OEMs who choose KOHLER engines to power their equipment," said Cam Litt, marketing manager for Kohler Engines. "In short, this is a feature-packed line of engines with the industry-wide interchangeability from a reliable brand." Production is scheduled to begin the second quarter of 2009.

The new engines target a range of commercial and industrial applications, including rental outdoor equipment, small concrete mixers, pumps, chipper/shredders, walk-behind trowels, ground pounders, concrete cutting saws, portable generators and air compressors. With the same footprint as competitors' engines and Command PRO CS, the Command PRO engine can be used as direct replacement with no need to re-work existing equipment upon replacement.
