Lombardini, with Ecowind and Lombardini Marine, is the undisputed European leader in the production of diesel engines. In 2007 it was purchased by the American multinational KOHLER, becoming part of the Power Group, KOHLER Co.'s energy business unit, contributing to the group's growth. The merger was characterized by fundamental synergies which facilitated obvious and significant integration. Kohler produces and distributes worldwide both single- and two-cylinder gasoline engines with power outputs of 4 to 40 HP, and is one of the most familiar names on the US market for its application on countless products, especially in the Lawn and Garden sector. Lombardini produces and distributes single- and multi-cylinder diesel engines, covering a range of up to 56kW, equipping machines in various sectors (agricultural, construction, electrical, industrial, automotive and marine). It is the skills gained by each of the two companies which are mutually increasing the group's know-how, in a reciprocal exchange of great possibilities. This synergy also extends to the distribution network on a worldwide level. The strong presence of each company in its own market – Kohler in the United States and Lombardini in Europe, with four branch business offices in France, Spain, German and the UK – has created an world-wide commercial operation which extends as far as India and China.
